What’s better than pasta?  Well maybe the LOBSTER Tuesdays here at Chianti’s. Just minutes from Siesta Key! We love the traditional Italian authenticity of this restaurant. Begin with the lovely bread selection served with olives Tuscan style, olive oil and vinegar at your table.  Yummy! Reserve your table and call ahead also on Sunday for reserving your LOBSTER. This meal comes with the bread, a selection of salad (I get the house with delicious fresh greens) and my husband orders the caesar salad which he says is to die for. Just know the white table cloths doesn’t mean you have to dress up but I like to put a little effort in for this but it’s definitely Florida casual. Their Happy Hour can happen at your table if you don’t like sitting in a bar atmosphere. Lots of variety here. Hope you try it. Tell them Pam and Gregg sent you. Almost forgot — bread pudding for dessert is delicious.

Our Favorite Restaurants — Owen’s Fish Camp

Owens Fish Camp 516 Burns Court, downtown Sarasota (941-951-6936}  Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday 4:00-9:30 PM  Friday and Saturday 4:00 -10:30 PM  Sunday 4:00-9:30 PM  This is a fun and very friendly old Florida style restaurant.  You can call ahead seating if you are within 15 minutes away.  Waiting area outside features a live band and beer and wine.  Their nightly featured fresh fish is very good.  They also have southern fare like Jambalaya, mussels, blackeyed peas and a poboy that is delicious.  There is a very large range of pricing here which I like so if you’re hungry for a bigger meal or a small plate like a sandwich, they offer it.  It is good which means it is quite busy.  Finding a time which is off peak is best.  I have met no one that I have recommended this to that didn’t come away very satisfied.  Great pies for dessert too!  Save room.

Our favorite restaurants on Siesta Key and Sarasota area

Ophelia’s on the Bay

This is what I would say is our #1 restaurant on Siesta Key.  We came here about 20 years ago and really enjoyed the waterfront (bay) atmosphere but not to say that their food isn’t spectacular.  We brought our youngest daughter here when she was 9 and she is now married and comes with her husband.  The menu has choices from land to sea and is flown in from all over the country.  My husband always gets the Ahi tuna  I like any fish entree.  My daughter loves their filets (yes eating filet since she was 9).  My son-in-law always goes for the lamb, perfectly cooked.  I like that they take reservations.  We always sit on the water and watch the fish jumping, boats going by, sea gulls nesting and occasionally a dolphin or manatee.  Oh and did I mention they have a pastry chef ?  Save room or you wish you had.  Worth a mention is the small quaint bar with happy hour from 5:00 – 6:00 pm and discounts on both drinks and appetizers at this time.  But get there at 5 because it fills up.  Bon Appetit!! Tell them Pam and Gregg sent you.
